PESA-Macro is designed to test the learning goals of a typical introductory course in microeconomics. It is composed of 29 multiple-choice questions. We have given this assessment in several Cornell classes as both an end-of-semester assessment for our introductory course and a test of pre-requisite skills in our intermediate-level courses. PESA-Macro is an alternative to the Test of Understanding College Economics (TUCE) for courses that are a closer match with our learning goals.
This assessment is relatively new, and we welcome any feedback about the learning goals being tested and the questions that test these learning goals. There is less consensus about the material taught in macroeconomics courses, and we want to make this assessment as useful as possible to the wider community.
